Verndale's Moore, Park Christian's Motschenbacher finish second at state track

ST. PAUL -- Verndale senior Samuel Moore capped his high school track and field career with a second-place finish in the Class 1A discus. Moore had a throw of 180 feet, 4 inches. In his final two high school seasons he finished with two shot put state titles, one discus state title and one runner-up finish in the discus. He will head to North Dakota State to play football and throw for the track and field team.

Moorhead Park Christian’s Karley Motschenbacher finished second in the 300-meter hurdles Saturday with a run of 45.09 seconds. The sophomore finished third last season.

Perham’s Carson Speicher finished fourth in the 800 in Class 1A with a 1:59.02. Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton’s Dan Wilson finished right behind Speicher in fifth with a 1:59.34.

The Pelican Rapids 1,600 relay team of sophomores Maddie Guler, Abby Syverson, freshman Tatianna Wiley and senior Jessica Weinrich took home fourth with a run of 4:02.24.
