Driver injured in north Moorhead crash; power restored to neighborhood
MOORHEAD – A man was sent to a metro-area hospital after the vehicle he was driving crashed at about 7:50 a.m. Friday, March 30, into a boulevard utility pole in the 1200 block of 11th Street North, a Moorhead Police Department spokesman said.
The man had been driving southbound when the vehicle left the roadway, Sgt. Thad Stafford said. The crash, which knocked out power for that neighborhood – including the police station – occurred just south of Matson Field.
The driver was unresponsive when first responders arrived on the scene and appeared to have some sort of medical condition, Stafford said, but he did not know if the medical issue had occurred before or after the crash.
The driver was taken to an area hospital for treatment and no charges are expected, Stafford said.
Moorhead Public Service responded to the crash and restored power to the area. Stafford said that after the overnight snowfall in the area that roads were still “extremely icy and slick, especially the intersections,” on Friday.
Stafford urged drivers to slow down to make it to their destinations safely.
