Woman charged after shotgun fired in West Fargo apartment
WEST FARGO — A West Fargo woman faces a felony charge of reckless endangerment for allegedly firing a shotgun into the ceiling of her apartment, according to Cass County District Court documents filed Wednesday, Feb. 14.
Heather Louise Larson, 45, is accused of shooting a round from a 12-gauge shotgun into the ceiling of her unit at 85 Center St. No injuries were reported.
At least 10 West Fargo police officers were dispatched to the scene shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday. When officers arrived, they learned that a neighbor had taken away two guns from Larson, but she still had the shotgun, according to a police report.
Larson's husband said she had been drinking for two days and did not know much about guns, the report said.
Police and Larson's husband tried to contact her by phone, and officers set up a perimeter around the apartment. Eventually, police learned that the neighbor had gotten the shotgun, a black Remington 870 Express pump shotgun, away from Larson, the report said.
Larson's husband then gave officers a key to the dwelling and gave them permission to enter.
Officers went into the unit and took Larson into custody, the report said.
Larson was taken to Sanford Hospital in Fargo for an evaluation. She was later booked into the Cass County Jail, where she remained Wednesday. Court records did not list an attorney for her.
