West Fargo woman arrested after crashing into police car, injuring officer; alcohol involved

Ashley Lyn Anderson, 29, faces charges of driving under the influence and careless driving after the car she was driving struck a West Fargo police car, injuring the officer.

WEST FARGO—A West Fargo woman is behind bars facing a drunken driving charge after crashing into a police officer's car.

The accident happened on County Road 28, south of the main entrance to the Red River Valley Fairgrounds, just after midnight on Sunday.

Authorities say 29-year-old Ashley Anderson approached the area, where the West Fargo officer was conducting a traffic stop, and struck the squad car from behind.

The initial hit pushed the squad car forward to strike the vehicle the officer had stopped.

The West Fargo police officer was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There were no other injuries.

Anderson was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving.

Anderson's blood alcohol content was more than twice the legal limit, according to police. The crash remains under investigation.
