Where: "The Narrows," Zion National Park, Utah

When: Oct. 31, 2017

Distance from Fargo: 1,416 miles

Comments: "I made perhaps my 50th trip to Zion National Park on Halloween day, and hiked (at age 71) about 2 miles into and out of the famous "Narrows" section of the Virgin River. The water temperature was 49 degrees (thank God I got used to it after the first five minutes or so). Fall colors were absolutely spectacular in Zion National Park."
