Memory Cafe to celebrate first anniversary

FARGO — Memory Cafe of the Red River Valley is celebrating its first anniversary this week, and organizers are inviting the public to its birthday party.

The group is gathering from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, at Moorhead's Hjemkomst Center, 202 First Avenue N. The featured guest is Steve Stark presenting his "Illustrated History of North Dakota." There will also be door prizes, music and refreshments.

Memory Cafe of the Red River Valley is a free social gathering where people experiencing mild to moderate memory loss and their care partners come together in a safe, supportive and welcoming environment. The gathering is held twice a month at Olivet Lutheran Church, 1330 S. University Drive, Fargo, and once a month at Dakota Medical Foundation, 4141 28th Ave. S., Fargo.

New friendships are formed while sharing coffee, cookies and conversation in a relaxed atmosphere that sometimes includes music, art, education or other forms of entertainment. The primary goal of the Memory Cafe is to make new connections with others who truly understand.

The nonprofit organization was founded in the spring of 2017. To learn more about Memory Cafe, visit
