MAC's promotes three, hires one
MAC's in Moorhead has promoted three people at its corporate office: Travis Smith, Tyler Peterson and Karsten Johnson.
Smith was promoted to senior manager of inventory control and the distribution center. He has been with MAC'S for 11 years. He has held several positions, the most recent being senior manager of buying.
Peterson was promoted to buyer. He has been with MAC'S for two years. Most recently, Tyler held the position of assistant buyer.
Johnson was promoted to information technology manager. Johnson has been with MAC'S for two years. Most recently, Johnson held the position of IT systems administrator.
The company also has hired Janel Krenzel as assistant store manager of MAC's Hardware in Fargo. Krenzel has more than 10 years of management experience, including eight years in retail management.
Gibbs promoted to colonel
John Gibbs was promoted to the rank of colonel June 3 in front of an audience of friends, family and fellow guardsmen at the North Dakota Air National Guard's 119th Wing in Fargo. Retired Brig. Gen. Ronald Solberg presided over the ceremony and administered the oath of office.
Gibbs began his career in the U.S. Air Force in 1985 as a carpentry specialist with the 56th Civil Engineer Squadron at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona. In 1989, he joined the North Dakota Air National Guard as a structural craftsman. He later commissioned as a transportation officer in the unit's Logistics Readiness Squadron in 1998. Since then, Gibbs has been assigned a number of positions within the 119th Wing, including duties as the deputy base civil engineer, base engineer, civil engineer commander and executive officer. He serves as the director of staff - air at the North Dakota National Guard headquarters at Fraine Barracks in Bismarck.
Gibbs deployed overseas for a mission to Iraq in 2005 with the 30th Engineer Brigade as a design engineer in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. Gibb's earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from North Dakota State University.
Feltman joins New York Life
Zachary Feltman has been hired by the North Dakota general office of New York Life as an agent. Feltman earned a bachelor of science degree in business management from North
Dakota State University.
Ishimwe joins Farm Bureau Financial Services
Farm Bureau Financial Services in Dilworth has hired Joseph Ishimwe as an agent. Prior to joining the company, Ishimwe was an agent for PMA USA.
Aspaas joins Pediatric Therapy Partners
Pediatric Therapy Partners in Fargo hired Kelsey Aspaas as a speech-language pathologist. Aspaas earned a master's degree in communication disorders from Minot (N.D.) State University. Aspaas has experience working in outpatient pediatrics and in the school system. She also has a special interest in language delays and feeding.
Berge named street fair coordinator
Nicolette Berge, events coordinator at the Downtown Community Partnership in Fargo, has been named street fair coordinator. She replaces Stephanie (Holland) Sornsin, who served in the position for 11 years and has moved to Washington state to be closer to family.
Berge joined the DCP part time in 2016. She is a business communication graduate from the University of Mary.
Orth, Strum joins New Life Center
New Life Center in Fargo has hired Katie Orth has as the development officer and Stephanie Strum as communications manager. Orth has over 15 years of health care experience and a passion for relationship building and community engagement. Strum brings over 10 years of marketing, advertising and project management experience to the position.
Meyer joins Titan Homes
Megan Meyer has joined the Titan Homes team in Fargo as a project designer. Meyer graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in apparel and textiles. Prior to Titan Homes, Meyer worked as a development purchasing agent for new construction in the hospitality industry.
Myers promoted at NTI
Chris Myers has been promoted to construction services manager for NTI's Fargo office. Myers joined NTI in 2011 as an engineering technician and has also served as project engineer and staff engineer. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 2010.
Schuchard joins Mainstay Suites
Paces Lodging Corp. has hired Keely Schuchard as general manager at the MainStay Suites of Fargo. Schuchard previously was the assistant general manager at the Residence Inn by Marriott of Fargo. She graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor's degree in management communication and hospitality and tourism management.
Stone joins RHET Architecture
RHET Architecture in Fargo has hired Tim Stone as a project manager. Stone, who graduated from North Dakota State University with a master's degree in architecture, brings 16 years of experience to the architectural industry to the team.
American Crystal Sugar promotes one, hires one
American Crystal Sugar in Moorhead has promoted Dan Fletcher shift supervisor in the Hillsboro, N.D., factory. He started with the company in 2012 and has held multiple positions in the multiple factories. He has been a shift administrator for the past two years in Hillsboro. He is also working on his bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Minnesota-Crookston.
The company also hired Marcus Erickson as an assistant packaging and warehouse supervisor in the Moorhead factory. Erickson earned a bachelor's degree in communications from Minnesota State University Moorhead. He was recently employed by Cretex.
Ficek joins law office
Anton (Tony) Ficek has joined Ficek Law Office in Fargo as an associate attorney. Ficek is a 2012 graduate of the William Mitchell School of Law. Ficek previously worked for Disability Attorneys of Minnesota in Minneapolis.
Wheelwright hired at CCRI
Emily Wheelwright has been hired as a crisis response specialist at Creative Care for Reaching Independence in Fargo. She graduated from Minnesota State University Moorhead. She was previously a program coordinator for REM North Star and has more than eight years experience working directly with people with disabilities.

Discovery Benefits in Fargo has hired eight employees. Chanel Robert and Jennifer Pruett were hired as sales directors. Emily Monson joined as an administrative specialist. Ashly Gabel was hired as an operations specialist. Kristy Wentz joined as a payment operations specialist. Trevor Sherrard was hired as a senior operations specialist. Kaitlyn Bucknall and Kalen Harsch started as participant services specialists.
Wibe promoted at Northwestern Bank
Northwestern Bank has promoted Denelle Wibe to vice president - retail banking at the Ulen, Minn., branch. Wibe started her banking career in 1987 at Northwestern Bank as a customer service representative. In 2004, she became a personal banker and also processed ag and commercial loans. She was promoted to personal banking officer in 2005 and to assistant vice president - retail banking in 2012. She has 30 years of banking experience, and is the compliance officer for the bank.
Western joins Fremstad Law
Mark Western has joined the Fargo office of Fremstad Law. Western is an experienced civil litigator who has argued multiple cases to the North Dakota Supreme Court. His previous clients included business entities as well as individuals who require legal counseling, litigation support, or lobbying advocacy before city, county and state units of government.
Ulrich promoted at Design Direction
Sydney Ulrich has been promoted to a full-time interior design assistant position at Design Direction in Fargo. Ulrich graduated with a bachelor's degree in interior design from North Dakota State University in 2016 completed the baccalaureate program in fine art in 2017. Ulrich previously worked as a part-time assistant at Design Direction for a year and a half.
Tamminga promoted at Liberty Structural
Brett Tamminga has been hired as a full-time engineering intern in the structural engineering department at Liberty Structural Consultants in Fargo. He graduated from North Dakota State University with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He is certified as an American Concrete Institute Concrete Field Testing Technician — Grade 1. He is a registered engineering intern with the state of North Dakota. He interned with Liberty Structural for one year prior to graduation and previously interned at Mortenson Construction in Fargo. Although he has his degree and is an employee of Liberty Structural, his title remains engineering intern until he has five years experience.
